The Cave is a Platform, Adventure, and Puzzle video game developed by Double Fine Productions and published by Sega for Multiple Platforms. Both Single-player and Multiplayer modes are featured, and for the creation of the game, Buddha gaming engine is used. It borrows some concepts from the earlier video game, Maniac Mansion released in early 1987, and the storyline follows three different characters from the entire cast of seven characters to navigate the Cave. There are many puzzles of the game needs the three characters to work as a team to complete, while some puzzles are unique to the specific abilities of the character. The storyline of the game is focused on the magical cave, comes with a problematic set of tunnels within it. There are seven characters, and each character is drawn from across space and time and harboring dark mysteries. During the gameplay, the player needs to gather objects and must struggle to interact with the environment following a similar manner to the adventure game. However, the exploration of the game is focused on 2D platform elements, though the game is offered with the 3D engine.
